HOPI EAR CANDLING
Ear candles are in fact hollow tubes made from unbleached cotton
or linen and hardened with beeswax, then impregnated with honey, and herb oils
including St John’s Wort, sage, and chamomile. They are not wax candles, so do
not fear hot wax in your ear! They help remove wax (as an alternative
to syringing), can help hearing problems, draw out colds and sinus problems, and also clear the mind, as impurities
are gently pulled through the ear into the candle.
They have a light suction action as the flame burns and pulls air upwards. The
movement of the flame creates a vibration of air that massages the eardrum. The
herbs have an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect on the mind.

In winter, I have ear candles to keep the colds away. I also
take them returning from a trip to a
smelly or stressful place like London to clear my head!
