10 Ways to Reduce Acidity in your Body

Acidity occurs when there is an excess secretion of acids in our stomach, particularly in our gastric glands. You really don’t want to underestimate the power of acidity because a whole heap of problems could result from this condition, from headaches to fatigue, conjunctivitis, digestive problem, gastritis, ulcer, and so on. Acidity is a serious health problem that could shut down your entire system.

To maintain good health and avoid hyperacidity, you need to balance the alkaline and PH levels in your body.  How? Here are ten sure-fire natural ways to maintain a pH balance:

1.       Eat foods that are high in alkaline.
Fruits and vegetables are the best source of alkaline. Among the best foods to include to your diet are herbal teas, soy products, olive, flax and canola oil, almonds, chestnuts, asparagus, potatoes, lemons, and mangos.

2.       Choose organic products.
When shopping for fruits and vegetables, look for organic ones or those that were not genetically modified. This will ensure that the food you are eating is free from pesticides and other harmful substances.

3.       Limit your meat intake.
Reduce your consumption of meat products especially processed ones. Your protein intake should not exceed 40-50 grams per day. You also need to lower down your sugar intake (including foods made from plain flour) as they contribute to an acidic state.

4.       Add potassium on your diet.
Eating foods high potassium such as a banana, lemon and honey will increase your alkaline levels.

5.       Hydrate.
Drink plenty of water so your body can flush out waste and other unnecessary compounds. According to experts, we should consume water in ounces that is equivalent to 50 percent of our weight. So if you weigh 110 pounds, you must consume 55 ounces of water on a daily basis.

6.       Alkaline plus acid.
Eat alkaline-rich foods together with acidic foods. This will help your body maintain a balanced pH level.

7.       Try the cream tartar remedy.
Add one to two teaspoons of cream tartar in eight ounces of water. This home remedy is effective in alleviating nausea and headache. Cream of tartar is a highly acidic substance that stimulates an alkaline-forming state in your body.

8.       Refresh your body with a glass of lemonade.
Instead of coffee, try having a glass of warm lemonade juice in the morning. Lemons help clear the body of waste and trigger an alkaline-forming state. Add two teaspoons of honey for an added alkaline boost!

9.       Consider apple cider vinegar.
Add two one to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it. Do this therapy on a daily basis.

10.      Baking soda and water.
In a glass of water, add one to two teaspoons of baking soda. For those who have hypertension or oedema, this may not be a good therapy though.
